The Special Call for Applications for International Students regulates the applications to the University of Porto's 1st cycle courses (Bachelor's Degree) and Integrated Master's Degree for applicants who do not have Portuguese nationality or the nationality of another member state of the European Union. They therefore have the International Student Status (ISS).

Applications
Applications to the Special Call for Applications for International Students should be submitted to the academic services of the faculty you wish to enter before the deadlines set out on this page.
The application must be submitted online. Each U.Porto faculty defines the admission requirements according to the Regulation on the Application of the International Student Status of the University of Porto.
What do you need?
- The necessary qualification, certified by the submission of application documents, in line with the requirements of the Faculty for the study cycle you wish to attend.
- You need to speak Portuguese at the independent user level. If you do not have documentation to prove your level of Portuguese, you may be required to take an oral proficiency test via video call.
- You need to meet the specific prerequisites of each course/study cycle (where applicable).
Eligible Applicants
You can apply to the Special Call for Applications for International Students if you are a non-EU national and meet one of the following conditions:
- you have a Portuguese secondary school diploma or an equivalent qualification;
- you have a diploma or certificate issued by a competent authority in your country of origin that proves acceptance and entrance into higher education.
Please note that you cannot apply if:
- you are a beneficiary of the Statute of Equal Rights and Duties as of 1 January of the year in which you wish to enter;
- you have dual nationality, of which one is Portuguese;
- you or your parents have been legal residents in Portugal for more than two continuous years counting backwards from 1 January of the year of entrance into higher education. In this case, time spent residing in Portugal under a student visa is not counted;
- you are a relative of Portuguese people or people from an EU Member State, irrespective of your nationality.

Vacancies
For the 2024/2025 academic year, U.Porto has 738 vacancies for International Students, divided between three different application phases (check the Deadlines).
All 1st Cycle (Bachelor's Degree) and Integrated Masters courses at U.Porto will open vacancies for this call for applications, with the exception of the following courses: Drawing (FBAUP) and Medicine courses from both the Faculty of Medicine and ICBAS.

Tuition Fees / Rates
Attending a 1st cycle (Bachelor's Degree) or Integrated Master's Degree course at U.Porto is subject to the payment of a tuition fee / annual charge. For students covered by the International Student Status, it can vary between 3500 euros and 8000 euros. To learn more about the exact values for each course/faculty, see our List of courses.
If you are a national of a country included in the CPLP – Community of Portuguese-speaking Countries (Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, São Tomé and Príncipe, and East Timor), you may benefit from a fee reduction of up to 45% of the annual rate / tuition fee.
