Whether you are a national or international student, U.Porto helps you find the right accommodation solution for you. Know how they work and how to choose.

The University campus offers you ten university Halls of Residence with a capacity to accommodate around 1,200 students. But this is just one of the many accommodation options you have in Porto...

I'm a National Student

Accommodation in University Residence

The university Halls of Residence are distributed among the three campuses of the University of Porto and are managed by the Social Support Services of the University of Porto (SASUP). They are mainly intended for students attending a Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree or Integrated Master's Degree and who, due to their socio-economic conditions or to the distance or difficulty of transport from their residence, have to live far from their families in order to continue their studies.

For these reasons, accommodation is given priority to students on scholarship. If the residence is available, it can also accommodate PhD students and researchers.

There are single, double and twin rooms with private or shared bathrooms. Some residences also have kitchen or kitchenette, study and common room and self-service laundry.

For more information about the U.Porto campus residences (location, prices, applications, etc.), contact SASUP.

Private Residence Accommodation

An increasingly common option in the city of Porto, private university residences offer other services, such as weekly cleaning. Basic expenses such as water, electricity and heating are included.

Flat Accommodation

There is a wide offer of houses for rent, and the most common solution is to share accommodation with other students.

Through websites dedicated to real estate, newspaper advertisements or real estate agencies, it is possible to find these offers. The values and conditions vary according to the location.

In the case of houses or flats, it is common practice to require two months' rent in advance (corresponding to the first and last month) and guarantors. The contracts generally have a minimum duration of six months.

I'm an International Student

Accommodation in University Residence

There are limited accommodation vacancies for mobility students in six of the University of Porto's halls of residence. The request should be made through the International Relations Service and then articulated with the Social Support Services of the University of Porto (SASUP) and with the residence that will host you.

There are single, double and double rooms with private or shared bathroom. Some residences also have kitchen or kitchenette, study and common room and self-service laundry.
