First Degree in Bioengineering

The course in Bioengineering offered by U.Porto prepares you to find multidisciplinary solutions to issues related to biomedicine and industrial biotechnology, from a process engineering and molecular engineering perspective. After the first three years, you will be able to choose between one of the three specialisation streams: Biomedical Engineering, Biology and Molecular Biotechnology.

Job Opportunities

Biomedical Engineering stream - biomedical instrumentation, biomedical signals and images processing and analysis, medical devices (external and internal prosthetics), tissue engineering (specifically for regenerative medicine), telemedicine, bioinformatics, medical robotics (minimally invasive surgery), and bionics.
Biological Engineering stream - industries of chemical and biological processes (pharmaceuticals, food, cosmetics, aromas) and the recovery of natural materials (wood, leather, materials and products of marine origin), the environment and environmental health (treatment of contaminated waste, environmental quality in hospital units and healthcare companies).
Molecular Biotechnology stream - sectors with a focus on the conception and development of new products on the basis of molecular biology, in particular drugs and diagnostic systems.
