In line with the world’s leading universities, the University of Porto combines the vocation of teaching with excellence in scientific research.

Excellence in U.Porto's research, scientific production, and the entire research community becomes more evident as the University is highlighted in the major international academic and scientific rankings.

Contributing to the volume and the quality of the knowledge produced at U.Porto was the significant investment in state-of-the-art laboratories and equipment, coupled with highly qualified academic staff.

Nevertheless, what best defines research at U.Porto is that it is heavily oriented towards the needs of society as well as the regional, national and international research and innovation strategies.
