U.Porto recognises how important it is for the scientific community to keep up to date with funding opportunities that stimulate R&D activities, fostering the creation of interinstitutional teams and consortia, both national and international.
U.Porto supports its community in obtaining external funding and provides relevant information through the local support services for existing applications in some of its Organisational Units, and centrally through the Research and Projects Service (SIP), specialised in fundraising for scientific activities.
SIP coordinates with the local services and offices in the Organisational Units and associated Research Institutes to provide information about institutional records in programmes and/or platforms. In addition, SIP provides support in identifying opportunities for funding, preparing and submitting applications, as well as following up on the application, and the post-submission and contracting processes.
SIP is also responsible for the (co)organisation of training and information sessions related to raising funds for research.
Working Group for Research and Fundraising (WG RF)
The WG RF materializes internal cooperation and sharing, regularly bringing together elements from the Research, Innovation and Internationalisation department at the Rectory, the Research and Projects Service, Organisational Units, Research Units and Research Institutes associated with U.Porto. The aim is to discuss funding opportunities for research as well as other related aspects. This group regularly debates and plans activities like sharing, discussing and coordinating topics and initiatives in the research domain, such as competitive fundraising and the development of strategic and R&D+i projects, aiming to intensify synergies and boost collaborative initiatives in the research ecosystem.
