UP.PT - Faculty of Arts and Humanities

Hungarian Language and Culture

In class, students not only acquire linguistic and cultural knowledge, but also develop their skills in the four micro-skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening).
Through reading (receptive ability) and writing texts (productive ability) and their subsequent analysis, students' knowledge is broadened at various levels: content, lexicon, syntactic structures, grammar, textual organisation. With regard to reading comprehension, students learn to understand short and simple texts, recognising familiar names, words and basic expressions; understand simple and brief messages on postcards; recognise familiar names, words and basic expressions in common everyday situations; grasp the overall content of simple information and brief descriptions, especially with visual support; follow short and simple written directions. | In written production (individual work), students learn to use simple expressions and phrases, connect words or groups of words with simple connectors; write simple expressions and phrases about themselves and imaginary people; write sentences about their place of residence and professional activity.
