Doctoral Degree in Language Sciences
In the Doctorate in Language Sciences offered by FLUP, the student will develop the ability for autonomous research, systematisation and elaboration of fundamental/theoretical research work in the following four branches: Linguistics, Human Language Technology, Translation and Language Teaching. The course is composed of a curricular component, followed by two years dedicated to the elaboration of a doctoral thesis. The Centre for Linguistics of the University of Porto is the research unit associated with the course.

Research in theoretical, descriptive and applied linguistics; Preparation and certification of quality learning materials in the language teaching field; Collaboration in activities with other fields: linguistics and engineering (corpus construction; speech technologies; etc.), linguistics and health sciences (clinical linguistics; speech therapy; etc.); linguistics and law (forensic reports based on linguistic evidence), specialised activities in fields such as translation/interpretation and language teaching.
