Sustainability - Diversity and Inclusion

At FEP, we believe that diversity is an essential driving force for academic excellence and the development of a more fair and equitable society. We intend to prepare future leaders capable of facing the challenges of a global and plural world, respecting differences and promoting inclusion in all its dimensions.

At FEP, diversity is understood as a source of value that enriches academic debate and promotes personal growth. Inclusion is seen as a shared responsibility, as a way of ensuring equal opportunities for all, promoting equity and combating any form of discrimination.

The School therefore recognizes and promotes diversity and inclusion as essential pillars for the development of a dynamic and innovative academic community.

Motto for the 2024/2025 School Year: Diversity and Inclusion

The 2024/2025 academic year will have as its central focus the theme of Diversity and Inclusion, which will be our motto and guide for various initiatives, from lectures, workshops, and projects, to concrete social inclusion actions within our academic community. We have also developed a Diversity and Inclusion Seal (DIS), which aims to recognize and encourage internal organizations that are committed to promoting these values.

We believe that this topic is essential for the training of conscientious professionals prepared to lead positive changes in the world.

Since 2020, FEP has been a signatory to the Charter for Diversity, a document of principles that promotes equal opportunities and inclusion in the workplace, regardless of ethnic origin, religion, gender, age, sexual orientation, or any other factor that may generate discrimination. By adhering to this Charter, we reaffirm our commitment to creating an environment that values the uniqueness of each individual, fostering innovation and creativity.

Gender Equality Board UP – GEB

In 2021, the University of Porto joined the consortium of the RESET project - Redesigning Equality and Scientific Excellence Together, made up of seven European universities. The RESET project, which will run until December 31, 2024, has as its main mission the promotion of gender equality and the design, implementation and evaluation of Plans for Gender Equality in each of the participating institutions.

Following this, the UP GEB was created, composed of representatives from each of the U.Porto faculties and services and other U.Porto entities. FEP, in line with this commitment, is represented in the U.Porto GEB – Gender Equality Board, Council for Gender Equality – Professor Cláudia Ribeiro.
