The Centre for Research and Intervention in Education (CIIE in its Portuguese acronym) is a research unit financed by Portugal's Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT).
Established in 1988, CIIE brings together excellent capacity and great experience of its team of researchers, having, especially in recent years, managed to achieve great success in attracting external funding, particularly from the European Union. Currently, 34 funded research and development projects are underway.
CIIE is organized in 9 strategic areas:

- Empowerment and Inclusion Through Digital Education and Arts
- Citizenship, Communication and Literacy in Health and Wellbeing

- Training, Equity and the Teaching Profession
- Evaluation and Public Policies in Education
- Pedagogical Management and Democratic Participation
With 70 integrated members and 50 collaborators, in a welcoming and stimulating environment, CIIE has been able to consolidate a high level of scientific and implementation capacity, with a vast network of partnerships and international recognition, which has provided significant success in attracting external funding.
