Professors & Researchers - OUT Mobility

The University of Porto is a university open to the world and, as such, it offers all its teaching, research and administrative staff the opportunity to undertake mobility periods, mainly aimed at promoting exchanges and cooperation between higher education institutions.

These mobilities can be carried out within the scope of the following programmes:

ERASMUS+
ERASMUS+ Programme

Erasmus+ is the new European Union programme for education, training, youth and sport. Among other activities, this programme promotes mobility activities for teaching and/or training, in Higher Education Institutions, that are part of the European Union, aimed at Teachers, Researchers and Technicians.

Specific priorities for teaching assignments:

  • To participate in the teaching of curricular units integrated in official study cycles at the host institution;
  • To contribute to the elaboration and future production of new teaching materials;
  • To discuss the possibility of creating the necessary conditions for the preparation of study cycles in partnerships and/or in association;
  • To analyse new opportunities to expand and enrich the range and content of the courses offered;
  • To promote the exchange of teaching experiences that enhance the adoption of new methodologies and innovative approaches;
  • To stimulate other joint teaching activities (e.g. cotutelle, joint supervision of MSc/doctoral theses);
  • To propose activities that may in the future result in projects of interest for both parties.

Specific priorities for training:

  • To reinforce the management capacity of the institutions involved in the mobility process in areas considered of strategic importance for the development of the cooperation relationships between Higher Education Institutions;
  • To analyse new opportunities and promote the creation and/or the strengthening of international cooperation actions between institutions;
  • To identify good practices in the management of international cooperation and, in particular, of new procedures regarding a more fluid preparation and implementation of mobilities;
  • To propose activities that may result in projects of interest for both institutions;
  • To promote the production of new working materials that facilitate the process of managing.
  • To be a national of one of the Programme's participating countries or to have permanent resident, stateless or refugee status;
  • To have a contractual relationship with the U.Porto in the academic year and during the period of the mobility;
  • To carry out the mobility based on institutional agreements signed between the institutions.

The Erasmus+ Community grant determines 5 working days as the average duration of the mobilities.

Please read the Rules of Application for Staff Mobility of the U.Porto for Teaching and/or Training Missions within the European Union:

  • To initiate the necessary contacts, with the host institution, in order to agree on a work plan proposal and to define the period of mobility to be accomplished;
  • To participate in training courses, offered by European universities, you can consult the following link: http://staffmobility.eu/staff-week-search. You should pay attention to the application deadlines and procedures specified by the corresponding institutions;

  • Complete and submit the form until the deadline;
  • Note: travel for mobility purposes should be subject to prior consultation with the head of the service/research centre/Director, in order to determine its relevance and feasibility in the context of the activities of the corresponding service/department, as well as to plan its organisation during the candidate's absence;
  • To inform SRIM about the proposed application and request its support in obtaining relevant documentation for the submission of the application.

Each academic year there are 2 calls (June and September) announced by SRIM via webmail.

The application selection process will take place in two stages:

  • FPCEUP will be asked to confirm the eligibility of its candidates and to validate their applications, considering their strategic interest. Validation is done directly online, following the University-wide transversal assessment criteria and corresponding weighting factors: work programme (60%), strategic interest of the proposal (30%) and expected impact (10%);
  • After the previous process, the Rectory's International Relations Service will proceed to the final selection of applications approved by FPCEUP;

All applicants will be individually informed, via e-mail, about the result of their application.

After being informed that he/she has been selected, the candidate should:

*The transfer of the grant amount will only be processed after the conclusion of these procedures.

Request to the International Office, or similar service, of the host institution to sign the document certifying the mobility, indicating its duration - number of hours and starting and ending dates (Confirmation of Stay).

On the return, the applicant should upload the following documents in the platform:

  • Declaration of Stay, signed and stamped by the Destination Institution;
  • Proof of travel such as airline boarding passes and/or transport tickets (train, bus, etc.), fuel and toll receipts, among others;
  • Individual Report, completed online (Mobility tool), no later than 30 days after the notification (received by email) for completion.

Deliver the original Confirmation of Stay at SRIM, to be sent to SRI-Rectory.

The amounts of the financial support will be determined by the effective dates of the mobility, considering the working days up to a maximum of 5 days and the travel days up to a maximum of 2 days, plus the travel support (fixed value per distance band).

The calculation of the travel support is made based on the "distance band", which represents the distance between the places of origin (U.Porto) and destination (Partner Institution). The calculation determines the total contribution for the outward and return trip. SRI-Reitoria uses the online distance calculator, available on the European Commission website.
