The Laboratory of Experimental Psychology (LPE) has a “laboratory-school” configuration, supporting research in the domain of the cognitive basic processes of human perception, attention, learning, and memory and hosting the laboratorial practice activities of curricular units of the Psychology course at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Porto.
The world’s first Laboratory of Experimental Psychology was founded in 1879 and marked the historic birth of Psychology as a Science. The Laboratory of Experimental Psychology of the University of Porto (LPE) was founded during the mid-sixties and was associated with the philosophy course of the Faculty of Arts. In 1977, all the laboratory equipment was transferred to the Superior Course of Psychology of the University of Porto where it remains until today.
