Applications to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd study cycles of the Faculty of Nutrition and Food Sciences of the University of Porto are open to national and international students according to the established stages. Applications to Continuing Education courses are open throughout the year.

Nutritional Sciences explore the various dimensions of food, from its biological processes, touching on topics such as biochemistry, to sociological processes, such as politics or economics.

The degree in Nutrition Sciences is multidisciplinary and comprehensive, preparing its students to work not only in areas such as Clinical Nutrition, Sports Nutrition, or Lifelong Nutrition but also in the Food and Agriculture Industry and in Restaurants, where they perform functions related to quality or even marketing.

The Master in Collective Food allows the development of differentiating capacities in food safety and quality. Thus, these professionals are not only ensuring food that is based on health but also sustainability.

Thus, during the training, it will be possible to acquire skills that will allow professionals to perform functions in the production and distribution of meals, seeking to optimize available resources most healthily.

The training and qualification of professionals who operate in the gastronomy sector is the main objective of the Master in Gastronomic Sciences. In this sense, the training aims to equip participants with the necessary skills to innovate and act in a conscientious, rigorous, and responsible manner. Gastronomy will be aggregated throughout the training to areas such as Nutrition, Sustainability, Entrepreneurship, and Culture. Thus, professionals will be able to create and develop proposals for new products, services, and businesses in the area of gastronomy.

The Master in Food Education is an innovative training at the European level focused on promoting the development of professionals capable of planning, implementing, and evaluating educational and curricular programs and projects.

During the training, Nutritional Sciences, Education, and Psychology to Design and Communication intersect to promote interaction strategies, develop educational projects, and equip professionals from various areas on how to implement actions in society.

Clinical Nutrition aims to address medical conditions through the use of nutrition. Diabetes, Cancer, Cardiovascular Diseases, or gastrointestinal disorders are just some pathologies where nutrition can play an active role in the patient's life.

The Master in Clinical Nutrition aims, improving in this sense, to provide professionals with the skills in different fields of knowledge to specific clinical areas of nutritional therapy applied to all organ systems.

The Master in Community Nutrition and Public Health aims to equip nutrition professionals to act in the community, promoting good health and nutrition habits, and healthy lifestyles.

In this sense, training will be given a special focus on developing knowledge and skills that allow monitoring and surveillance of population groups. In addition, the planning, implementation, and evaluation of community programs and projects in the areas of nutrition and diet will also be highlighted.

Pediatric Nutrition begins even before the conception of the child, has special importance in the first 1000 days of life, and continues until adulthood. Thus, being that nutrition at these ages influences health and behavior throughout life, the Master's Degree in Paediatric Nutrition aims to deepen and develop advanced and specialized skills in the area.

The MSc in Paediatric Nutrition also integrates essential theoretical and practical components to enable the application of the scientific method in problem identification, hypothesis development, eventual validation, and discussion.

Pathways

The competitions for submission of applications for admission to the FCNAUP can be managed nationally, by DGES, for the competition for general access to the 1st Cycle, or locally, for the remaining cases. See more information about the Pathways.

Tuition Fees

To enroll in any FCNAUP study cycle, the student must pay the tuition fee set annually. More information about Tuition Fees.
