To become a Post-Doc candidate at FCNAUP, you must submit an application addressed to the Director of FCNAUP, accompanied by the documentation set out in article 6 of the Post-Doc Regulations of the University of Porto.
The application and other documents should be sent to the e-mail [email protected], with the attention of the Academic Services, Continuing Education department ([email protected]).

Conditions for access, organization and approval
1 - The application for the post-doctoral program is submitted by the candidate to the Director of the Faculty of the proposed supervisor, in the form of a request signed by the candidate.
2 - If the supervisor is a researcher within a research structure, the application will be forwarded by the coordinator of the research structure to the Faculty deemed appropriate for the post-doctoral project.
3 - The following documents must be attached to the application: a) An updated Curriculum Vitae; b) A research program indicating the duration and a timetable for the activities to be carried out; c) A declaration of acceptance by the future supervisor; d) Civil and tax identification data, including card number and validity of the document(s) supporting it; e) The post-doctoral researcher's doctoral certificate.
4 - The supervisor should, whenever possible, try to involve the candidate in the activities/research lines of one of U.Porto's research structures.
5 - The Dean of the Faculty must consult the Scientific Council of the respective Faculty about the proposed application.
6 - The post-doctoral project is authorized by the Director of the respective Faculty, who will issue a letter of acceptance after the registration mentioned in paragraph 8 of this article.
7 - If the supervisor is a non-teaching researcher, the supervision of the work must be regulated by the existing protocol between the Faculty and the research structure to which the post-doctoral supervisor belongs.
8 - After the authorization referred to in paragraph 5 of this article, the candidate must be registered in the University of Porto's information system.
9 - National or foreign post-doctoral researchers residing in Portugal must present proof of personal accident insurance cover valid throughout the research period when registering.
10 - Non-resident foreign post-doctoral researchers must, at the time of registration, present: a) Proof of health insurance cover valid throughout the research period; b) Visa (if required).
11 - Carrying out a post-doctoral program does not generate any functional or employment link between the U.Porto and the post-doctoral researcher.”
- The post-doctoral project must last six months or more;
- Admission to a post-doctoral research project is on an individual basis and can be done at any time of the year;
- Currently, no fees apply during the post-doctoral period at FCNAUP;

- The postdoctoral researcher must submit a report on the activities carried out within three months of the end date of the project;
- The postdoctoral researcher is entitled to a postdoctoral certificate issued by the FCNAUP Services;
