Other Networks

One of the main objectives of the Talent and Career Centre is to create broad collaborative and strategic networks that include various internal and external partners and to mobilise these networks with other higher education institutions and with local, national and international bodies and organisations.

In this context, we have sought to establish multi-level connections with a view to creating and boosting ecosystems that promote the development of sustainable career paths. We would highlight the connections with:

Development and collaboration of various actions in the field of employability, career and inclusion, including activities developed by the TERA service, such as:

  • Speed Recruitment - an annual recruitment and networking initiative aimed at bringing candidates looking for job opportunities closer to companies;
  • Thematic workshops - on employability, entrepreneurship, and skills, among others;
  • Career Consultancy - individual career support for residents;
  • Porto. for Talent Summer Academy - an initiative created to provide a gradual and differentiating approach between higher education students and the Municipality of Porto business fabric.

Instituto de Emprego e Formação Profissional (IEFP), multi-sectoral associations such as the Associação Empresarial de Portugal (AEP), and other private and public organisations. We want to highlight the connections with these organisations:

  • The consultancy that the Talent and Career Centre has carried out for the creation of employability support offices and services in some of these entities and the design of intervention programmes, as well as participation in events on "Employability and Careers", taking part in discussion panels and providing training and workshops;
  • Co-building the D Efficiency Project - a collaborative initiative that brings together, in addition to Porto City Council, the U.Porto through Talento e Carreira, IEFP and AEP, the Porto Cerebral Palsy Association, the Salvador Association and the Polytechnic Institute of Porto. This project aims to promote the employability and integration of people with disabilities into the labour market by training them and raising awareness among organisations and society of the importance of diversity and equal opportunities, encouraging the adoption of inclusive practices and the creation of accessible working environments.

A network made up of HEIs and partners, which, since 2013, has promoted the sharing of good practices between the various employability promotion offices, seeking to promote the employability of young graduates more effectively and focusing on co-operation and complementarity between its members.

Within this Consortium, the Talent and Career Centre and other career services at U.Porto have shared their practices, placing U.Porto as a benchmark institution in promoting career development and employability. They have participated in developing studies, training and events on the employability and careers of young university students and have co-organised the International Conference for Career Services Career in Action since 2021 with the WEC/Student Forum.

A European association of HEIs, mobility consortia and organisations involved in international internship mobility and young Europeans' skills development and employability.

U.Porto, as a member represented through the Talent and Career Centre, U.Porto has contributed to international internship mobility and mobility for learning purposes, disseminating these opportunities to the University's academic community. It has also participated in meetings to share practices and in seminars and congresses to present its practices.

The Talent and Career Centre seeks, through these and other connections and integration into consortia and networks:

  • Boost the success of the University's projects and initiatives in the field of talent and career, also contributing to the success of the projects developed by its partners and co-constructed projects and to their greater reach and visibility;
  • Contribute to access to a greater diversity of resources and opportunities, the sharing of experiences and knowledge and continuous learning;
  • Stimulate innovation and creativity and flexible collaborations.
