EUGLOH Career Network

EUGLOH (European University Alliance for Global Health) is a European consortium for cooperation in the fields of Education, Research, Innovation and Service to Society.

Initially founded in 2019 by 5 European higher education institutions: University of Porto (Portugal), Université Paris-Saclay (France), Ludwig-Maximilians Universität München (Germany), Lund University (Sweden), University of Szeged (Hungary), EUGLOH would see its network extended in 2022 with the integration of 4 more institutions: University of Alcalá (Spain), Tromsø University - The Arctic University of Norway (Norway), University of Novi Sad (Serbia) and University of Hamburg (Germany).

Employability, Skills and Lifelong Employability Axis

As part of this Alliance, U.Porto coordinates the axis dedicated to employability, competencies and lifelong learning, one of the objectives of which is the creation of a career community - the EUGLOH Career Network - to support the development of careers and opportunities for students and graduates of the Alliance. Led by the Talent and Career Centre, the EUGLOH Career Network mainly comprises the employability and career structures of partner educational institutions, academics, and researchers with expertise in these areas.

As well as exploiting synergies in career development, the aim is to encourage cooperation between the partners and connectivity with the external partners of these 9 ecosystems. To this end, a series of activities are being developed, such as:

  • Mapping of best practices and initiatives carried out by the nine HEIs and their partners;
  • Drawing up a catalogue of services and activities/practices in the area of career development;
  • Survey of needs/realisation of studies on the expectations and needs of students and employers;
  • Mapping and publicising career opportunities;
  • Co-organisation and implementation of virtual/hybrid career events and programmes, such as round tables and focus groups with EUGLOH partners and relevant ecosystem stakeholders, workshops and seminars with industry partners/entities, seminars on interpersonal skills for students from the various study cycles, including PhD students, podcasts on transversal skills, among others.

Sharing the same concerns about the challenges of employability, a concerted and integrated action is being developed (sharing information, better knowledge of the territories, making the most of resources) to increase training opportunities, capacity building and, consequently, career development for students.
