Other Collaborations

Companies/organisations have the option of holding face-to-face or online sessions about the organisation/company itself or a recruitment/internship or training programme, competitions for prizes, among others, for the University's students and graduates, or more dynamic and interactive sessions in a more informal context (for example, during a breakfast or sunset/cocktail event).

Through these sessions, companies reinforce their employer brand and share with students and graduates their know-how regarding the skills that the labour market expects from future professionals. Organisations and companies also get to know the students interested in the opportunities they offer so they can find reinforcements for their staff and create greater engagement with them.

The face-to-face presentations occur in a very similar format to the ConnectiON event. However, there is no limit on the number of participants in this case.

The University of Porto organises several job and career fairs through its faculties and student bodies. These fairs aim to promote a closer relationship between employers and students and graduates, providing the latter with an opportunity to get to know the labour market better and gain more knowledge about the culture and business area of companies/organisations.

Companies/organisations can participate in career initiatives and events organised by the Talent and Career Centre by organising sessions or workshops on personal and social skills (soft skills) and technical skills.

They can also participate in sessions to prepare for recruitment and selection processes and entrepreneurship, among other emerging themes, and share with students and graduates their know-how regarding the skills that the labour market expects from future professionals.

U.Porto opens its doors to recruitment by companies/organisations by providing privileged spaces for them to hold individual and collective selection interviews, group dynamics and assessment days as part of their recruitment processes - all in a university environment and closer to students and graduates.

Companies/organisations can host students for extracurricular internships, including summer internships and job shadowing, helping to bring students closer to the business reality and providing them with technical and personal skills relevant to their future integration into the labour market.

Organisations can access the free-of-charge U.Porto Career Opportunities Platform to publicise these and other career opportunities.

Organisations can also propose topics for projects in a business environment and master's/doctoral theses, which must be sufficiently scientific as they will lead to a dissertation for a degree or projects for end-of-course internships.

These projects can be adjusted according to the faculties' interests in guaranteeing their scientific quality.

If the organisation has international locations, it can also welcome students and graduates for internships.

In the case of the ERASMUS+ Programme, for example, students and recent graduates can complete an internship in a business/organisational environment in another European country up to one year after completing their course. This internship can be carried out to develop the final dissertation/internship or professional internship (in the case of recent graduates).

In addition to the possibility of holding conferences, lectures or specific workshops on skills and career management, companies/organisations can also, through a representative (preferably a U.Porto alumnus), become mentors to students in the mentoring programmes that exist in the faculties.

By sharing their experience with the students, the representatives of the organisations that become mentors will also be able to develop their mentoring skills, contact and identify potential collaborators and even increase the visibility of their organisation.

The University of Porto encourages companies/organisations to exploit students' and graduates' innovative and creative talents and ideas by organising entrepreneurship-related training activities, competitions, workshops and conferences.

You can learn more about the University of Porto's entrepreneurship support ecosystem at the U.Porto Entrepreneurship Portal.
