The Alberto Amaral Residence is the largest residence at U.Porto. Adjacent to the Faculty of Arts, it is famous for being spacious and comfortable and has a privileged view over the Douro River and the riverside area of Vila Nova de Gaia.
The Alberto Amaral Residence has 274 places for 1st, 2nd cycle and integrated master's degree students and 39 places for international 2nd cycle, 3rd cycle and post-doctoral students and researchers. Of the beds for undergraduate and master's students, 220 are distributed over 5 blocks (A, B, C, D and E) with 11-bed flats with shared bathrooms, kitchen and living room. The remaining 54 beds are located in block F and are distributed by double rooms (temporarily with individual occupation), with WC and a shared kitchen.
The beds for the remaining students are located in block F and are distributed by 33 single rooms and 6 double rooms, all with WC and fridge and a shared kitchen.

The University of Porto and the Portuguese Army established a protocol in December 2019, which allows SASUP to provide accommodation to U.Porto students at Messe Militar do Porto - Polo das Antas. The Messe Militar has 35 double rooms, all with private bathrooms.
Messe Militar also has a dining area, common to all students, equipped with refrigerators and microwaves.
