Access to the SASUP food units (canteens and snack-bars) is made through the identification of the student by presenting the U.Porto card at the moment of the meal acquisition.

The food units are located in the 3 university poles next to the various faculties:

Pole I

  • Law canteen;
  • Fine Arts Canteen;
  • ICBAS/FFUP Canteen;
  • ICBAS/FFUP Snack-bar.

Pole II

  • Engineering Canteen;
  • Engineering Grill;
  • St. John's Canteen;
  • St. John's Restaurant;
  • Sports Canteen;
  • Sports Snack-bar;
  • Dental Medicine Snack-bar.

Pole III

  • Arts Canteen;
  • Science canteen;
  • Science Snack Bar.

You can consult the existing canteens on the university campus where your college is located.

Consult the menu of the food units (canteens, snack-bars, restaurant and grill).

For the dinner period, you may use:

  • Arts Canteen;
  • Engineering canteen.

On weekends and holidays they are open:

  • Arts Canteen;
  • Engineering canteen.

The use of these canteens on weekends and public holidays requires the prior purchase of a meal ticket on the previous working day.

The meals served in the canteens and snack bars may be purchased at the points of sale in each food unit (POS or kiosks selling meals).

To use some canteens, it is necessary to acquire a meal ticket previously:

  • Law Canteen - Weekdays (Lunch) | No prior booking;
  • ICBAS/FFUP Canteen - Weekdays (Lunch) | Pre-booked until the previous working day;
  • Fine Arts Canteen - Weekdays (Lunch) | No prior booking;
  • Arts Canteen - All days, including weekends and holidays (Lunch and Dinner) | Pre-booking for weekends and holidays (Lunch and Dinner);
  • Science Canteen - Weekdays (Lunch) | No prior booking;
  • Engineering Canteen - All days, including weekends and holidays (Lunch and Dinner) | Prebooked meals for weekends and holidays (Lunch and Dinner);
  • St. John's Canteen - Weekdays (Lunch) | No pre-booking;
  • Sports Canteen - Weekdays (Lunch) | Pre-booking until the previous working day.

The Complete Social Meal comprises one soup, one loaf, one plate, and one dessert (fruit, jam or yoghurt). This meal is in disposable food packaging, including cutlery and napkins, in a take-away system. The dessert of this meal is one piece of fruit.

The Simple Social Meal is composed of one loaf and one plate. In the Take Away regime, this meal is in disposable food containers, including cutlery and napkin.

Yes, SASUP canteens can be used by any element of the Academic Community of the University of Porto, regardless of the faculty in which they are enrolled.

Since the beginning of the academic year 2020/2021, purchasing meals for take-away is possible. These meals are acquired in the same way as meals for consumption at the SASUP facilities.

The canteens can be used at the following times:

  • Lunch Service: 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM
  • Dinner Service: 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM

The University of Porto has several meal services, being under SASUP's responsibility the following ones:

Pole I

  • Law Canteen;
  • Fine Arts canteen
  • ICBAS/FFUP canteen;
  • Snack-bar ICBAS/FFUP.

Pole II

  • Engineering Canteen;
  • Engineering Grill;
  • St. John's Canteen;
  • St. John's Restaurant;
  • Sports Canteen;
  • Sports Snack-bar;
  • Dental Medicine Snack-bar.

Pole III

  • Arts Canteen;
  • Science canteen;
  • Science Snack-bar.

SASUP also provides catering services to satisfy the requests of the Academic Community of U.Porto and support the various events held at the university.

In this scope, SASUP assures the provision of varied catering services with personalised treatment, such as

  • Port of Honour;
  • Coffee-break;
  • Working lunch/dinner;
  • Buffet lunch/dinner;
  • Among others.

The U.Porto Community can make table reservations for the S. João Restaurant.

Reservation requests can be made by sending an email to [email protected], indicating the following information:

  • Reservation date;
  • Arrival time;
  • Name of the person responsible for the reservation (name to be given on arrival at the Restaurant);
  • Number of places to reserve;
  • The organic unit responsible for the payment of the service to be provided;
  • E-mail address to send the invoice.

The kiosks can be used by the entire U.Porto Community, being mandatory for access to the use of the U.Porto card for identification purposes. The payment of meals purchased in the kiosks is made exclusively through an ATM.
