There is a range of support available to students and researchers at the Faculty of Science.

The Faculty of Sciences, namely through the University of Porto, promotes and/or sponsors a wide range of financial support for its students and researchers, in order to ensure equal opportunities in access to its courses, but also to reward the merit of those who stand out for their academic results.

DGES Scholarships

Students enrolled on FCUP's Bachelor's and Master's degrees can apply for scholarships awarded by the Directorate-General for Higher Education (DGES). These scholarships consist of a monthly cash payment to cover the costs of attending the course. Find out more about scholarships on the SASUP website.

Social Support Fund

Os Serviços de Ação Social da U.Porto dispõem de um Fundo de Apoio Social destinado aos estudantes em situação de comprovado estado de necessidade económica e não abrangidos pelas bolsas de estudo da DGES. Saiba mais sobre o Fundo de Apoio Social na página dos SASUP.

U.Porto's Social Action Services have a Social Support Fund for students in a situation of proven economic need and not covered by DGES scholarships. Find out more about the Social Support Fund on the SASUP website.

PRR Scholarships

Under the Recovery and Resilience Plan's (PRR) "STEAM Youth Boost" Program, students enrolled in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) degrees can access Scholarships and Merit Scholarships.

Merit Scholarships

Every year, merit scholarships are distributed to students with the best academic results at U.Porto. This is a cash prize for students enrolled on Bachelor's, Master's and Integrated Master's degrees, who achieve exceptional academic results, regardless of their socio-economic situation. Other grants

In addition to financial support and merit scholarships from FCUP and U.Porto, students and researchers can access other scholarships awarded by external institutions such as:Instituto Camões, Portal das Comunidades Portuguesas, FCT, Santander Universidades, Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, Fundação Millennium BCP, UT Austin Portugal, CMU Portugal, MIT Portugal, among others.

Scientific grants

U.Porto awards scientific initiation scholarships and research scholarships to Bachelors, Masters or Doctors. These grants are intended for scientific training in research projects or scientific and technological institutions in Portugal.

The duration of the grant is, as a rule, annual and can be extended for up to three years, and cannot be awarded for periods of less than three consecutive months.

Tuition fees

Tuition fees

Attendance at FCUP's different study cycles is subject to the payment of tuition fees, which vary according to the degree attended and the student's status.

The exact amounts and specific conditions for paying tuition fees for each course / degree / status are available on the respective course page.

Payment methods

Procedure:

  1. Log in to the current account;
  2. Click on the image;
  3. Associate MB reference for payment;
  4. Verify data;
  5. Assign;
  6. Click on 'Back to current account.
  • Payment method exclusively for international payments
  • Failure to comply with this procedure may lead to the application being rejected
  • Only for applicants currently resident abroad (outside Portugal)
  • Transfer costs are borne by the applicant
