The City of Porto

Porto is a beautiful city in the north of Portugal. It is located along the Douro River and is world-famous for its Port wine. The city of Porto is considered the fourth safest in the world and its historic center is classified by UNESCO as a world heritage site.

You can use the metro lines to explore the entire city. Be sure to visit Cais da Ribeira, Dom Luís I Bridge, Sé (Cathedral), Igreja do Carmo, Clérigos, Avenida dos Aliados, Rua Santa Catarina, Casa da Música, among many other tours.

Cultural program

International participants will be able to get to know each other better during social events and will also visit the Port Wine Cellars on the banks of the Douro River.

Faculty of Medicine (FMUP) University of Porto

FMUP is a renowned Higher Education institution that stands out for the excellence of the teaching it promotes, the top position it occupies in research, and the symbiotic relationship it nurtures with several public and private health institutions throughout the country.

The objective of this institution is to train doctors and other health professionals at a scientific, technological, and humanistic level, as well as improve the health of the population. The Faculty has been attracting hundreds of students who, every year, come here to attend the Integrated Study Cycle of the Master’s Degree in Medicine (MMED), and other post-graduate courses, namely Masters (2nd Cycle of Studies) and Doctoral Programmes (3rd Cycle of Studies).

Reaching FMUP

The Faculty of Medicine is located on the northern perimeter of Porto, near the Circunvalação road (EN12). The Faculty shares a building with S. João Hospital.

By Metro

Line D (yellow) connects the Faculty of Medicine (H.S.João station) and the University Campus (Pólo Universitário station) to Gaia’s City Hall (Câmara de Gaia station) in about 20 minutes. It connects to the remaining lines (A – blue, B – red, C – green, E – purple and F – orange) at Trindade station.
