As of January 1, 2020, Prof. Dr. Gábor Szabó physicist, university professor and member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences has been assigned as Managing Director of ELI-ALPS Research Institute. From 2006-2010 Professor Szabó played a key role in developing the scientific proposal that resulted in ELI-ALPS Laser Research Institute being established in Szeged, Hungary. As a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee of ELI-ALPS since 2010, Professor Szabó has been actively involved in developing the scientific strategy and laser infrastructure of our institute. His scientific expertise includes generation of ultrashort light-pulses, ultra-fast laser spectroscopy, nonlinear optics, photoacoustic spectroscopy, and the medical applications of lasers amongst others. Prof. Dr. Gábor Szabó was the Rector of the University of Szeged from 2010-2018.
