Organizational Structure

UPBE is governed through a two-tier structure with a Strategy Committee and an Executive Committee. The Strategy Committee (SC),
playing a supervisory role, is composed of four members: 2 academic members from FEP and 2 non-academic members from PBS.
The Strategy Committee has the role of advising on the strategic plans of the consortium, monitoring its implementation, and making
recommendations when required. The Executive Committee (EC) is responsible for achieving the objectives and implementing the strategy
of UPBE. The Executive Committee has four members: the Deans and Associate Deans of FEP and PBS. The Dean of FEP is the Chair
of the Executive Committee and President of UPBE.

The Strategic Plan for UPBE is developed through an iterative process involving the Strategy Committee and the Executive Committee
in consultation with the various stakeholders. In addition, the Strategy Committee advises on strategy implementation and on some
strategic initiatives and/or specific projects by request of the Executive Committee. For its turn, the Executive Committee develops an
overall yearly activity plan that encompasses all the areas in which UPBE is present, independently of which unit is primarily responsible
for its implementation. Each school has its own governing bodies that oversee and execute the activity plan in their specific domains.

Education is managed at unit level. FEP focuses on degree programmes in business and economics (bachelors, masters, and doctorates),
while Porto Business School offers MBAs, Postgraduate programmes, and Executive Education. Research is concentrated in CEF.UP
(Center for Economics and Finance at U.Porto) that conducts theoretical and applied research in Economics, Finance, and Management.
Innovation and Knowledge Transfer takes place at CBI, the Centre for Business Innovation, which focuses on studies and consultancy
projects on Digital Transformation, Business Model Innovation, Corporate Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Sustainability.
Faculty are clustered in four main areas: Management, Economics, Analytics, and Law & Social Sciences.
