The choice of treatments depends not only on the condition of the object but also on other factors such as its future use, storage or display conditions, its aesthetic or historical content and the client's budget.

The most common treatments include mechanical surface cleaning, removal of adhesive tapes, removal of substandard protective systems, consolidation of detached elements, aqueous treatments to remove acidic compounds, discolouration products and stains, replenishment of an alkaline reserve in the support, consolidation of tears, filling of gaps and construction of protective systems suitable for the objects in question.

The main aim of the proposed treatments is to stabilise and extend the lifespan of the objects.
