Conservation and Restoration Studio

The Studio for the Conservation and Restoration of Graphic Documents of U.Porto aims to respond to the needs of U.Porto's archives, libraries and museums by preserving and restoring documentary and artistic heritage on paper and parchment.

This U.Porto workshop aims to provide a wide range of conservation and restoration services based on rigorous scientific knowledge combined with the latest technology and equipment.

Our intervention methodologies are based on internationally accepted ethical principles, using advanced diagnostic methods combined with rigorous scientific conservation and restoration practice. Only in this way can we devise specific intervention methodologies suited to the state of conservation and the nature of each object or collection. Our primary concern centres on the physical and chemical integrity of each object, as well as its long-term preservation, proposing, whenever possible, the monitoring of treated pieces and preventive conservation measures that can be applied.
