Sports Medicine
Physical exercise and sports practice are of fundamental importance for the well-being of populations and for the treatment and prevention of diseases. The adherence to physical activity, whether in the practice of federated sports or as leisure or prevention and treatment of diseases, has increased exponentially, with the advantages and problems inherent to the practice of the same.
The specificity and importance of the constraints inherent to the practice of physical and sporting activity implies knowledge of physiology, assessment and treatment that were not developed in undergraduate teaching, and is currently a formative lack of the graduate in Medicine.
Job Opportunities
Recognition of morphological and physiological adaptations of the body to training and the different demands required in different sports. Knowledge of a set of knowledge necessary for the practice of the activity of the doctor who exercises sports medicine in its main applications: medical-sports evaluation, sports counseling, evaluation and control of athlete training, nutrition applied to sport as well as the prescription of exercise in diseases that benefit or limit physical activity.
