Thermal medicine is one of the oldest medical disciplines, driven by an ancient tradition that cannot do without a rigorous assessment of its relevance and benefits. Thermalism is defined by the use of natural mineral water and other complementary means for the purposes of prevention, therapy, rehabilitation or well-being. The course promotes knowledge in different scientific areas, namely: Geology and abstraction, Hydrological Analytical Chemistry, Hydrological Hygiene, Hydrological Therapeutics, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and General Hydrology. The aim is for the doctor to acquire wide-ranging skills, from identifying geological formations and their relationship with the formation of aquifers and natural mineral waters, the physical-chemical and bacteriological analytical evaluation of waters, their classification and respective therapeutic indications, to the different thermal and complementary therapeutic techniques and procedures related to public health.

Job Opportunities

The Course confers a competence recognised by the Order of Physicians which is indispensable for the exercise of Thermal Medicine.
