Doctoral Degree in Astronomy
The Doctorate in Astronomy offered by FCUP aims to prepare future astronomers/researchers, national or foreign, at an internationally competitive level. The Astronomy subfields which are accessible through this study cycle include Astrophysics, Cosmology, Planetary Sciences, Instrumentation and Systems for Space Sciences, among others.
Job Opportunities
Teaching in Higher Education Institutions, in the following fields: astronomy and astrophysics, physical sciences in general and space sciences and technologies; Research Career in national or foreign research institutes or units, including international organisations that include Portugal as a member state, such as ESO and ESA; Operation support for infrastructures in space sciences, including observatories, space missions and technological development laboratories for space sciences and technologies; Industry related to space technologies and services.
