Every year, we organise a series of initiatives in order to encourage the entire research ecosystem to actively engage in activities related to scientific work. We challenge younger students to discuss and present the results of their research initiation projects, and doctoral students to develop transversal science communication skills. We also recognise U.Porto researchers with established careers, recognising their contributions and scientific excellence. All of this is done while fostering interaction and synergies among the members of the U.Porto research ecosystem.
Excellence Award in Scientific Research
Aimed at recognising U.Porto's faculty and researchers who stand out for their excellence and impact in scientific production, while valuing and stimulating the U.Porto research ecosystem. It also fosters and values the participation of faculty and researchers in knowledge creation, securing funding for scientific research activities, and producing scientific publications.

IJUP | Young Researchers Meeting of the U.Porto
Aims to encourage the involvement of U.Porto students in R&D activities across all areas of knowledge. Students from the 1st and 2nd cycles are invited to present and discuss the results of the studies they have participated in, during their academic journey, therefore fostering research initiation.

U.Porto 3MT® | U.Porto Three Minute Thesis
Aims to promote important communication skills among doctoral students by challenging them to explain, to a non-specialist audience, the significance and importance of their research in under 3 minutes. This academic competition is patented by the University of Queensland (UQ).

Working Group for Research and Fundraising (GT IAF)
Aims to intensify internal reflection, create synergies, and drive collaborative initiatives within the research ecosystem. The group embodies the spirit of internal cooperation and knowledge-sharing, periodically bringing together members from the Vice-Rectory for Research and Innovation, the Research and Projects Office, the Organisational Units, Research Units, and Research Institutes associated with U.Porto.
The Group discusses and streamlines activities related to the sharing, discussion, and coordination of common issues and initiatives in the field of research, such as securing competitive funding, developing R&D+i projects, or addressing transversal issues in research.
