Other activities

In addition to Mandarin and martial arts courses, ICUP also offers cultural activities and lectures on traditional Chinese medicine. Find out more about the main activities organized by ICUP:

Jointly organized by the Confucius Institute at the University of Porto and the Confucius Institute at the University of Lisbon, this exhibition shows the costumes, characters, gestures, music,the and scenery of Peking Opera.

In collaboration with Casa Comum, ICUP celebrated International Chinese Language Day with a concert by Lu Yanan, a Chinese instrumentalist, and vocalist who has lived in Portugal for around 20 years and is a well-known promoter of the musical tradition of a civilization that is more than 5,000 years old.

A documentary with Lu Yanan and Rão Kyao about their journeys and the possible musical dialogues between Portugal and China.

Dr Dong Xiaoyan, a graduate of Traditional Chinese Medicine from Tianjin University, shared basic knowledge of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She presented acupuncture, radiotherapy, and Chinese medicinal herbs, emphasizing how they can relieve pain. Following these activities, there was a practical session where Dr Dong made diagnoses and offered acupuncture and vacuum therapy treatments to the participants.

In collaboration with Casa Comum, Chinese instrumentalist and vocalist Lu Yanan enchanted us with a pipa and guzheng recital inspired by traditional Chinese music.

Maria Ondina Braga's centenary celebrations included a conference on the presence of Macau in the author's life and work, presented by Dora Nunes Gago, a researcher and professor at the University of Macau. The event also included a music concert with Lu Yanan and Rão Kyao.
