Did you know that if you meet the necessary conditions, you can apply for a scholarship to study in higher education?

In the case of the University of Porto, applications are open between 25 June and 30 September. You can find more information on the DGES - Directorate-General for Higher Education website.

What counts when applying for the special access competition:

The final classification of the course you attend is worth 50% (CCF)
The mark you obtain in the test you take at the end of the course (PAP/PAF) is worth 20% (PA)
The mark you get in a test you have to take at the higher education institution you're applying to (for example institution to which you are applying (e.g. FPCEUP) is worth 30 per cent (PLCE)
The formula for calculating the final classification is as follows:
CF = CCF x 0.50 + PA x 0.20 + PLCE x 0.30

Step by Step for Applying to Public Higher Education Institutions:

STEP BY STEP to make your Applying to Public Higher Education Institutions, such as FPCEUP:

  1. You should consult the regulations of the Higher Education Institution to which you are applying: FPCEUP regulations
  2. If you are applying to FPCEUP, fill in the enrolment form on the FPCEUP website c) to take the exam.
  3. On the appointed day, turn up at FPCEUP to take the written test.
  4. After passing the written test, the application is made centrally on the DGES website.
  5. Request an access password from DGES.
  6. Register your application with DGES. Check the application dates and more information on the DGES website.
  7. The results will be communicated via email by DGES itself (they are not published).
    c) If you haven't finished your course (12th grade) by the time you register for the exam, you must submit a declaration on your honour stating that you will finish your course by the end of July.
    d) The access password is the same, but the platforms for registering are different. The National Access Competition has different procedures. You can find all the information on the DGES website.
