The Doctoral Programme in Psychology (PDP) offers an in-depth and sophisticated understanding of human behaviour in multiple areas. Students are guided in the development of high-quality research projects, with the express purpose of increasing research and development capacity in priority areas such as Education and Development; Inclusion, Exclusion and Cultural Diversity; Cognitive and Affective Neurosciences; and Human Relations, Health and Well-being. The PDP is developed in close partnership with the CPUP - Psychology Centre of the University of Porto.

Recipients:
- Holders of a master's degree or legal equivalent in Psychology or related areas;
- Holders of a bachelor's degree in Psychology or related areas, with a particularly relevant academic or scientific curriculum recognised by the Scientific Committee as attesting to their ability to carry out the PDP;
- Holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum recognised by the Scientific Committee as attesting to their ability to carry out the PDP.

Selection and ranking criteria and their respective weightings:
Selection and ranking based on CV analysis, doctoral pre-project and, possibly, interview.
Weighting:
1 - research experience: 20 per cent; 2 - publications and communications at scientific meetings: 20 per cent; 3 - quality of the pre-project: 40 per cent; 4 - transferability of knowledge: 20 per cent.
Comments:
Candidates who score less than 60 per cent in all four criteria will not be admitted.

The Doctoral Programme in Educational Sciences (PDCE) offers a great opportunity to produce knowledge oriented towards analysis and intervention in education and training contexts. A broad vision of education (formal, informal and non-formal) and the course's international setting provide a unique environment. The close articulation with projects developed in CIIE - Centre for Educational Research and Intervention (rated Excellent by the FCT) and a great deal of attention to the quality of supervision promote the realisation of relevant work, capable of making a difference.

Selection and ranking criteria and their respective weightings:
Selection and ranking based on analysis of CV, letter of motivation, project and, possibly, interview.
Weighting:
Training activities: 15 points; Research activities: 35 points; Justification of interest in the application (motivation letter and project): 50 points.
Comments:
Candidates with less than 22.5 points for research and training activities will be excluded; Candidates with less than 40 points overall will be excluded.

In the 2025/2026 academic year, the PDSH will only operate on a re-enrolment basis*.
* Through the re-entry system, a student, after interrupting their studies, can re-enrol at the same institution and on the same course.
Students can apply for re-entry if they:
- Have been enrolled and registered in that institution/course pair or in a pair that preceded it, and
- Were not enrolled in that institution/course pair in the 2024/2025 academic year.
