Basic Life Support training aims to train the community (non-health professionals) in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, the simple airway approach (AAL) and safe automatic external defibrillation, enabling them to approach teachers in cardiac arrest until a resuscitation team arrives and to participate as members of that team.
At the end of the training, trainees will be able to:
- Perform the approach and stabilisation of the critical patient;
- Identify respiratory arrest and cardiac arrest;
- Demonstrate competence in performing BLS manoeuvres;
- Perform the airway approach;
- Demonstrate competence in performing automatic external defibrillation safely.
Anyone interested in Basic Life Support except those with a Licence or Master's degree in Medicine and Nursing graduates.

The teaching/learning methodology consists of face-to-face theoretical-practical sessions, divided into discussions of theoretical concepts and the application of concepts and training of technical skills through simulated scenarios.
The individual assessment will take place at the end of the training and will be based on the trainee's performance in an assessment scenario. the mark will be set at 20.

Specific admission requirements
In the following order of preference: 1. Applicants who are duly proven to be unemployed (proof of IEFP registration); 2. FMUP employees; 3. Employees of UP or institutions that are part of the IP Alliance consortium; 4. External candidates. Grading: AC (10 points) + EP (10 points) Curriculum Assessment (CA): - Medical and/or nursing students: 5 extra points, up to a maximum of 10 values - Graduates: 3 extra points, up to a maximum of 10; - Masters: 2 extra points, up to a maximum of 10; - Doctorates: 1 extra point, up to a maximum of 10 points. Professional Experience (PE) - candidates with the most years of PE will be valued.
