Masters Degree in Communication Sciences

The Master's Degree in Communication Sciences is the result of a partnership between the Faculties of Arts, Fine Arts, Economics and Engineering. It is based on a multidisciplinary approach to provide students with solid scientific and professional training, combining in-depth knowledge of the Social and Human Sciences with the new information and communication technologies and the aesthetic and creative dimensions.

Journalism (press, radio, television and Internet); Strategic communication (corporate, institutional and organizational communication, political communication, communication crisis, consulting services and public relations); Research (scientific production); Teaching.

Curricular structure

The main objective of this cycle of studies is to give students increased skills in analysing, producing and creating media and communication processes. In order to achieve their specialisation, the Master's is structured in two branches - "Media and Journalism" and "Strategic Communication".

In the first two semesters of the Master's programme, the student will choose one of the two branches available, within which they can opt to take 6 ECTS in any scientific area at U.Porto, to complement their training according to their interests and competences (60 ECTS of teaching component);

From the 3rd semester onwards, the student will have to choose between the compulsory completion of an Internship and an Internship Report or the compulsory submission of a Dissertation or Project Report (60 ECTS remaining).
