Curricular structure
The Master's in History and Heritage is divided into 3 branches of specialisation: Local and Regional Studies - Construction of Memories, Heritage Mediation (with optional internship) and Historical Archives, in collaboration with the Master's in Information Science - FEUP (with compulsory internship). It offers a range of Curricular Units (CUs) in the areas of History, Information Science, Social Sciences, Geography, Museology and other areas in accordance with the choices of optional units at U.Porto.
The aim is for students to obtain skills in:
- The use of methods and techniques essential for identifying, inventorying, disseminating and preserving heritage: natural, documentary, iconographic, built, archaeological, rural, maritime and industrial;
- Organising projects for professional intervention in the areas of cultural entertainment and cultural and historical tourism;
- Systemic, integrated and multidisciplinary management of heritage, whatever its nature, in order to enhance its preservation and enjoyment by the community.
