Masters - Educational Offer

Masters Degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics

Emerging from a dynamic academic collaboration between the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and the Faculty of Economics of the University of Porto, the Master's Degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics provides training that explores the political dimensions of philosophy and economics and the relationships between these fields.

Philosophy has a long tradition of reflection on political action, addressing concepts such as power, the state, the social contract, forms of government, justice, ethics, equity, coercion and violence. At the same time, economics deals with the creation and distribution of value, the coordination of decentralised decisions in contexts of scarcity and the institutional and political dimensions of these processes.

Job Opportunities

This multidisciplinary training will broaden the world view of the students, providing them with the indispensable skills to deal in a reflective, informed and innovative way with a changing world, particularly in the field of economic institutions and political systems, offering the possibility of differentiated career paths.

The syllabus aims to provide transversal training for different scientific and professional profiles, which can be enriched by taking specialised options from other master's degrees.
