First Degree in Geography

The degree programme in Geography aims to train geographers with a profile suited to the current state of knowledge around the cross-cutting concepts of the environment, natural resources, spatial planning and society, and with solid practical skills in instruments such as geographic information systems and cartography.

Curriculum

The study plan for the degree in Geography was created to offer different types of training, promoting the development of transversal skills applicable to the different interests of the students: solid training in this scientific area, with 150 compulsory ECTS in the area of Geography and 30 optional ECTS of free choice at the University of Porto, in the areas of Geography, Humanities, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Engineering Sciences and Communication Sciences.

The curriculum aims not only to provide students with strong skills in analysing territorial issues, testing explanatory models and applying methodologies for diagnosing and intervening in the territory, but also to stimulate their ability to flexibly and creatively solve new global and local problems generated by today's rapid transformations.
