The IF's activity is divided into two thematic lines, Medieval & Early Modern Philosophy and Contemporary Philosophy. The research areas presented include six research groups: (1) Aristotelica Portugalensia - The reception of Aristotle in Portugal up to the 18th century; (2) Aesthetics, Politics and Knowledge; (3) Philosophy and Public Space; (4) Mind, Language and Action; (5) Roots and horizons of philosophy and culture in Portugal; (6) Reason, politics and society in medieval and early modern philosophy.
Activities
- The IF carries out scientific research in Philosophy and related fields, setting up research groups and research projects in areas considered strategic;
- The Unit aims to share its research with as wide an audience as possible through its scientific output and the organisation of events (publications, conferences, seminars, workshops, lectures, colloquia, etc.);
- The IF establishes partnerships with other national and international research groups within the scope of the activities of all its research groups;
- The Unit is closely linked to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in the Philosophy Department at FLUP (Degree in Philosophy; Master's in Philosophy; Master's in Philosophy, Politics and Economics; Master's in Teaching Philosophy in Secondary Schools; Doctoral Programme in Philosophy).
