Services Provision - Presentation - UNAPS

The mission of the Services Provision Unit (UNAPS) is to support and enhance FLUP's capacity for interaction, co-operation and the provision of services to the community (companies, public bodies and other institutions), promoting the transfer of knowledge, technology and know-how to society.

In this context, UNAPS provides services in different areas:

• Scientific and technical consultancy and assessment
• Externally commissioned research
• Specialised studies
• Training services
• Translation, interpretation and proofreading

These functions are provided by this organic unit in a way that is personalised to the needs expressed, within the various fields of Social Sciences and Humanities in which FLUP has resources and specialists.

The area of Communication and Information has a teaching and research staff with scientific and technical skills for training, developing fundamental and applied research projects and providing specialised services, with logistical support for this purpose, particularly with regard to digital media.

The existence of a teaching staff and researchers with scientific and technical skills in the field of Geography guarantees the development of fundamental and applied research projects, as well as a wide range of training offers and specialised services in the fields of Spatial Planning, Environment and Natural Resources Management and Cartography and Geographic Information Systems.

The field of History and Political and International Studies reflects the diversity of FLUP's areas of research, training and activity, currently covering: Medieval Studies, African Studies, History and Heritage, Contemporary History and International Relations and Cooperation.

The Languages division embodies the capital accumulated in the field of language teaching and research at FLUP and aims to offer a range of services in the area of training, to be provided externally, complementing FLUP's continuing education offer, as well as translation and interpreting, studies and consultancy and advisory services in different idioms.

FLUP brings together specialists from various areas in the field of Heritage Sciences, whose work is mainly carried out through the DCTP, offering society an effective response in various specialities including Cultural Anthropology, Archaeology, Cultural Heritage, Art History, among others.

In the field of Sociology, external services are provided in the diagnosis and evaluation/monitoring of policies, institutions, practices and processes of social change, across different territorial levels (local, regional, national, global), and in the development and animation of Action-Research projects in socially delimited units.
