Exchange - Teachers and Researchers

Mobilities of teaching and research staff are essentially designed to promote exchanges and cooperation between higher education institutions. With or without funding, they can be carried out under different programmes, such as the Erasmus+ Programme or the Erasmus+ ICM (International Credit Mobility) Programme, and also through bilateral Cooperation Agreements established with institutions in various countries on all continents.

Advantages:

  • International work and teaching experience;
  • Continuous professional development;
  • Access to academic networks and international research projects;
  • New contributions to your own teaching, research and work activities;
  • Financial support for a professional stay abroad.

Teacher and researcher exchanges can take place through a number of different modalities:

Under the Erasmus+ programme, FLUP teachers and researchers can apply for teaching and/or training missions within the European Union (Programme Countries: European Union and Programme Countries outside the EU), with an average duration of 5 working days.

FLUP lecturers and researchers can go on exchanges to take part in seminars, workshops, training courses, peer learning activities and job shadowing.

Training programmes must last between 2 and 5 working days (the mobility grant to be awarded provides daily individual support for a maximum of 5 days). It is up to the candidate to contact organisations (universities, companies, NGOs, etc.) in European Union countries to propose and prepare the training plan to be pursued.

Visiting teachers and researchers are considered to be those who propose to carry out a research project under the supervision of a teacher or researcher at FLUP and who are not part of a study programme.

In the case of the ‘sandwich doctorate’, or any research within the scope of an academic degree (bachelor's, master's or doctorate), these researchers have a framework in the cooperation programmes/agreements, so they will be registered as mobility/exchange students and not as visiting researchers.

FLUP welcomes researchers who wish to develop a post-doctoral research project in one of its Departments and/or Research Units.

The International Office only takes care of formalising the registration, so the researcher must first contact the respective Department/R&D Centre so that a lecturer related to the research area can be appointed. A formal letter of acceptance must be obtained from the R&D Department/Unit, as well as from the Lecturer/Researcher who will be supervising the researcher, in order to formalise the postdoctoral registration.
