Administrative Services

The Secretariat's main function is to assist the Central Governing Bodies, Departments and Research and Development Units (R&DU) in their day-to-day management activities.

The Academic Management Service is active in the areas of administration, management and support for 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycle courses and Continuing Education, as well as organising the administrative processes for advanced studies, including aggregate examinations.
The Service is divided into two offices - the Degree Programm Office and the Continuing Education Office - created according to the nature of the academic processes they support and organise.

The International Office works in the area of international relations and cooperation, promoting and supporting FLUP's involvement in international academic mobility programmes for teachers, students and non-teaching staff, by establishing contacts with universities and companies.

The Management Support Unit is an organisational structure that provides administrative and technical support to FLUP's management bodies.

Specialised Technical Services

The Centre for the Study of Culture in Portugal of the University of Porto was established in the Organic Regulations of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto (FLUP) in 2017, following the handover of Vasco Graça Moura's documentary collection to the Faculty on a loan basis.

Thus, in homage to the author of this founding legacy and its original context, FLUP's Executive Board decided to name this cultural centre ‘Casa dos Livros’ (House of Books), recovering and reframing the name that Vasco Graça Moura had given to his work and creative space on the rural property of Eira do Catavento (located in the municipality of Almeirim).

As a specialised technical service, this Study Centre is headed by a Professor appointed by FLUP’s Dean and, in all technical matters, it reports directly to the Documentation and Information Service.

Visit the Casa dos Livros website.

The Conservation and Restoration Laboratory is a laboratory structure whose main function is to support scientific and pedagogical activities and the development of scientific research in the areas of Conservation and Restoration.

The Documentation and Information Services are involved in the conception, planning, management, processing, dissemination and control of information and documentation and comprise three units: the Library, the Archive and the Publications Office.

The Infographics Service's mission is to support FLUP's scientific and teaching activities, as well as the Faculty's various services, by offering a space dedicated to creating graphic resources and documents. With a special focus on thematic cartography, but covering other areas, the aim is to graphically communicate Knowledge in a visual and impactful way.

Teachers, researchers and students from all of FLUP's scientific areas can benefit from the Infographics Service's support in two main stages:

  • Structuring and organising data (from their research).
  • Creating data visualisations (such as maps, graphs, diagrams and other visual elements).

The resources generated here serve not only the various academic projects, including doctoral thesis, master's dissertations, and course reports, but also scientific articles, posters, presentations for scientific events, teaching material and institutional reports, always aligned with the context and resources of FLUP and the Service.

FLUP is also home to different services whose sphere of activity extends not only to the Faculty, but to the University of Porto in general.
