Department of Portuguese and Romance Studies

The Department of Portuguese and Romance Studies (DEPER) was established on 4 May 2000. DEPER covers the great areas of linguistic, literary and cultural knowledge of the Romance tradition and, consequently, the great moments that constituted it: Classical Antiquity, the Medieval Age and subsequent eras, in their complex articulations, formulations and uses over the centuries.

DEPER's mission is to create and transfer knowledge in its areas of activity. Through its work, the Department aims to continue to consolidate the role that the University should play as an agent of social, economic and territorial development in the field of literary and linguistic studies.
