The formation of the Geography Department (DG) resulted from the publication of the FLUP Statutes on 4 May 2000, which clarified the internal organisation of the faculty, structuring it departmentally. However, the Geography Department traces its roots back to the Geography Degree Course that began in October 1972.
The DG also ensures scientific research, as well as promoting the transfer of knowledge and events of a diverse nature that stimulate scientific discussion, contributing to the development and planning of the territory.
