The MPRINCE MSc in Integrated Building Design and Construction will provide further training and competences beyond the ones offered by the degree of MSc in Civil Engineering. At the end of this programme, the students will have acquired skills and competences that will allow them to have a global and integrated vision of the Civil Engineering and Architecture professional areas and of the conceptual and technical components that the development of a construction project involves, in both areas of civil engineering and architecture.

Thus, they will be able to coordinate multi-disciplinary project teams, participating through supported decision-making processes, therefore being possible to respond more effectively to all performance requirements of construction, ensuring the search and achievement of more sustainable, integrated and coherent solutions.

The decision to apply for the Master's in Integrated Design in Building Construction was based on the need I felt in the course of my professional activity to have a more transversal and holistic view of a building project. After completing the first year of this Master's programme, I am convinced of the benefits of returning to academic training after a few years of professional experience. It's positive not only because it's easier to see the usefulness of what we've learnt and to adapt it to the reality of the labour market, but also because, if we look for complementary training, it allows us to make our knowledge more systemic and to establish more fruitful relationships between different disciplines.

From my point of view, the curriculum structure of the Master's programme works very well. The curricular units in the first semester allow students to acquire a theoretical framework for the different specialisations, and in the second semester we are faced with the challenge of putting the theoretical content covered earlier into practice. The quality of the teaching staff is unquestionable, as is their commitment. The demand for the Master's degree is high, but I believe that anyone who completes this study programme will be able to be an asset in the job market. I would recommend this study programme to anyone who has the opportunity.

The choice of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto was relatively obvious to me, not only because of its quality and recognised prestige at national and international level, but also because of its close relationship with the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto, where I graduated in 2013.
