Lifelong Learning - Application Procedures

Learn how to apply to a Continuing Education study programme.

Considering the growing challenges of today's society and the importance of lifelong learning, the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto offers a wide range of non-academic continuing education, whether or not integrated into study cycles, including postgraduate study programmes (advanced studies and specialisation) and continuing education programmes or units (Open Training Programmes, Continuing Training Units , Programmes of Continuing Education).

The following may apply to a Advanced Studies programme:

  • Holders of a Master's degree or legal equivalent;
  • Holders of a Bachelor's degree (Licenciatura) with a particularly relevant academic or scientific curriculum recognized by the Scientific Committee as attesting to their ability to carry out this course;
  • Those with an academic, scientific or professional curriculum recognized by the Scientific Committee as attesting to their ability to carry out this course.

The following may apply for a Specialisation programme:

  • Holders of a bachelor's or master's degree, or its legal equivalent, in fields deemed appropriate by the Scientific Committee of the Specialisation Course;
  • Holders of a foreign higher academic degree in the field of engineering or similar fields considered appropriate by the Scientific Committee, awarded following a first or second cycle of studies organised in accordance with the principles of the Bologna Process by a country adhering to this process;
  • Holders of a foreign higher academic degree in engineering or similar fields deemed appropriate by the Scientific Committee, of a minimum duration of three academic years;
  • Holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum in the field of engineering or similar fields deemed appropriate by the Scientific Committee, including candidates who have completed the first 3 years of a cycle of studies carried out in a country not adhering to the Bologna Process.
