It aims to offer advanced knowledge in the field of territorial planning, focused on explaining, formulating, and substantiating future public policy agendas. The programme seeks to combine three principles: the development of a set of strong competencies in advanced knowledge of spatial dynamics, territorial planning, and scientific research; an emphasis on areas of specialisation linked to the key research strengths in the institutions; and flexibility, allowing the adaptation of curricula to the specific characteristics of the candidates..

Applicants to the Doctoral Programme in Spatial Planning must hold a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Economics, Geography, or related fields relevant to the nature of the course.

Objectives

Objectives

The defined objectives are part of the mission of the two schools, which is to train internationally recognised engineering professionals, supported by excellent research and development, with a regional focus, but of globally recognised quality, and by the practice of disseminating recognised quality, encompassing scientific, technical, ethical and cultural aspects. Doctoral programmes in general, and the Doctorate in Spatial Planning in particular, are fundamental tools for the Schools in the pursuit of this mission, as they underpin the scientific research and technological innovation projects in which they are involved.

The objectives set are not only fully in line with the educational, scientific and cultural projects of the schools involved, but can only be achieved through the implementation of doctoral programmes. Without them, it would not be possible to develop the scientific research and technological transfer activities that these projects, which are of great importance, provide for.
