Learning Objectives
The main objective is to produce graduates with a broad knowledge of the basic sciences (mathematics, chemistry, physics) and engineering (design and computational methods), as well as specific knowledge of materials engineering, which includes a broad vision of the properties, processing and applications of the main classes of materials (metallic, ceramic and polymeric, including nanomaterials and biomaterials).
Although it is a comprehensive programme with clear progression to second cycle training in mind, the L.EMAT also prepares students to
- Work in the broad field of materials engineering;
- Analyse and solve engineering problems in a variety of contexts, including the most relevant social, scientific and ethical aspects;
- Interact with colleagues in multidisciplinary teams, with a collaborative attitude and with professional and ethical responsibility.
