The Department of Civil Engineering and Georesources (DECG) has the mission of framing, fostering, and promoting training, research, development, and outreach activities in the fields of Civil Engineering and Georesources.
DECG is associated with 94 teaching staff, 32 researchers, and 24 technical ETI staff.
The Department of Civil Engineering and Georesources aims to train highly skilled professionals capable of addressing new challenges in the design, implementation, and management of complex systems, with respect for the environment and Human Dignity, within a framework of creativity, rigour, and efficiency. At the core of its values is the cultivation of dialogue and respect for freedom of thought.
In line with its mission, DECG is responsible for:
- Teaching in the field of Civil Engineering and Georesources, as well as related areas, in bachelor's, master's, doctoral study programmes, and other non-degree courses in which FEUP participates;
- Scientific research, technological development, and outreach activities in Civil Engineering and Georesources or related areas;
- Dissemination and promotion of the outcomes of the activities mentioned above;
- Interaction with other departments of the Faculty, other organisational units of the University of Porto, public entities, businesses, and non-governmental organisations to develop teaching and research projects in the field of Civil Engineering and Georesources or related areas.
