The importance of high schools and their students for higher education institutions is steadily increasing. Thus, the idea of creating a network of excellence with high schools – our FEUP CAMPUS – was born.
This programme aims to strengthen ties with high schools that have the greatest impact on the Faculty, both in terms of the number of students enrolled and the quality of graduates who complete their academic journey within five years. The programme emphasises relationships with these schools as talent incubators, extending the campus to the Asprela University Campus, and mobilising their communities in a strategic partnership rooted in the mission of producing more and better engineers.
There are numerous factors to consider when analysing student success. A 2018 study co-authored by Professor Ana Camanho (FEUP) explores this subject, reflecting on the factors that explain student performance. Employability rates leave no doubt and attest to the strong relationship FEUP has with employers. FEUP currently attracts students from over 300 high schools across the country, representing a diverse range.
