Associated Laboratory based at FEUP, comprising three R&D units at FEUP rated as Excellent by the FCT: the Laboratory for Process Engineering, Environment, Biotechnology and Energy (LEPABE), the Laboratory of Separation and Reaction Engineering – Laboratory of Catalysis and Materials (LSRE-LCM), and the Transport Phenomena Research Centre (CEFT). It includes around 360 researchers, 50% of whom hold doctoral degrees.
The mission of ALiCE is to contribute to scientific and technological knowledge for the development of innovative and sustainable processes and products, addressing societal challenges and fostering industrial development. ALiCE is organised into five Thematic Lines: (1) Chemical Industry, (2) BioIndustry, (3) Materials, (4) Energy, and (5) Environment. ALiCE is currently the largest Associated Laboratory in Chemical Engineering in Portugal.
