Associated Laboratory based at FEUP, established as an initiative led by the R&D Unit The Research Centre for Systems and Technologies (SYSTEC) at FEUP. LA ARISE was created in 2021, connecting public entities from three universities - Coimbra, Minho, and Porto—and the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria through CEMMPRE, ISR-C, ISISE, SYSTEC, and CDRSP. It integrates fundamental and applied sciences with technologies in the fields of Civil, Electrical and Computer, Biomedical, and Mechanical Engineering.
In particular, the primary objectives include the training and promotion of highly qualified scientific employment and the attraction of international talent to Portugal, as well as addressing key national and international public policies through its five interconnected thematic lines: TL1 – New Materials and Components; TL2 – Advanced Manufacturing Systems and Processes; TL3 – Sustainable Energy Systems; TL4 – Intelligent Systems and Robotics; TL5 – Digital Ecosystem, Sustainability, Risk, and Management.
